Welcome

Kathryn Skelsey, the founder of HealthArt Physiotherapy, is a mobile and telehealth physiotherapist with over 30 years' experience in the public hospital and private practice settings.

Kathryn is available for home visits to adult or aged people in the southern Sydney metropolitan area for the care and remediation of their musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, neurological and metabolic conditions, injuries and disabilities.

Kathryn can also provide consultation sessions via telehealth (telephone or video conferencing) to people across Australia.

She employs her expertise in exercise therapy and rehabilitation; muscle, trigger point and connective tissue massage and stretching; and joint mobilisation; to promote physical activity and achieve improvements in your physical health.

Until April 2022, Kathryn also worked as the primary Permanent Part-time Physiotherapist for the Metabolic Rehabilitation and Bariatric Surgical Programs, at Camden Hospital (Macarthur Health Service). The programs are achieving groundbreaking results for patients' weight loss and health through exercise therapy, nutritional guidance and a multidisciplinary team-based approach.

Kathryn has also completed contracts as a Research Assistant at Western Sydney University and the University of Sydney to pursue her interest in exercise for diabetes, obesity and other chronic metabolic and endocrine conditions, including pituitary, adrenal and thyroid conditions. From 2015 to 2017 Kathryn was engaged in a Master of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) investigating the perceived benefits of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for people living with Early Onset Type Two Diabetes.

Kathryn's previous clinical position was as a consultant physiotherapist to the School Therapy Team for Students with a Physical Disability at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. She has also worked and engaged in placements in the inpatient areas of women's health, paediatrics, orthopaedic and cardiac surgery and care, stroke rehabilitation, intensive care, as well as musculoskeletal outpatients and community home services, across a number of Sydney and rural NSW hospitals. Kathryn continues to update her skills and knowledge with ongoing professional development.
